This city was founded by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shahi, the Sultan of Golconda, in 1591. His successors, the Nizams remained in power until its integiation in Indian Union following the country’s Independence in 1947. The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad separated by the charming water reservoir known as Hussain Sagar  Hyderaad is unique among southern cities of India , as Urdu is the major spoken language.    

Hyderabad ’s love affair with automobiles dates back to the days of the nizams. Even today expect to see Rolls Royces, Packards and Cadillacs on the streets.

Hyderabad is is not only famous for its art, jewellery, poetry and architecture but The city has constantly kept pace with the latest trends and advancements in technology , a futuristic techno township thunders with software revolution, and has acquired the status of a ‘cyber city’.

Char Minar  

Situated amidst bustling bazaars, Charminar , The landmark of Hyderabad , often referred as “The Arc de triomphe of East”. Char Minar ( Four Towers ) was built in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah to commemorate the end of plague in the city.  

The majestic rectangular building has beautiful arches and elegant minarets on the top, stands 53 metres high and 30 metres wide, and creates four arches facing each of the cardinal points.   

Mecca Masjid

Situated near the Charminar, Mecca Masjid is one of the largest mosques in the world. The construction of this mosque was started in the year 1614 by the 6th Qutub Shahi king, Abdullah Qutub Shahi, but was completed only in 1687 by the Mughul emperor Aurangazeb when he annexed the Golconda Kingdom .  

Golconda Fort  

About 8 kms. west of Hyderabad ,sprawled over 5 km are the massive Golconda Fort With 18 m high walls, 8 huge gates, 87 bastions for cannons The Fort has got a fantastic acoustic system by which a hand clap sounded in the Grand Portico can be heard in the Durbar Hall atop the hill. There are  seven elegant tombs, outside the Golconda Fort, contain the remains of seven of the rulers of the Qutub Shahi kingdom.  

There is a very interesting sound and light show every evening. Golconda was also once famous of its fabulous diamonds and the renowned Diamond Kohinoor was unearthed from this region only.

Hussain Sagar Lake  

The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad separated by the charming water reservoir 6 1/2 km by 4 km artificial lake known as Hussain Sagarhas a 17.5m high, 350 tonne (approximately) monolithic Buddha statue on a platform in the middle of the lake.

Salar Jung Museum

Believed to be the best in Asia , it is a unique collection of art objects which features priceless treasures and whimsical objects side by side. It contains wonderful art objects, statue by master Italian sculptor and rare Persian miniatures, Illuminated Koran and the like which provide a joy to the beholder.  

Nehru Zoological Park

A great attraction for kids, this large zoo, set in a scenic locale, houses a large number of animals. It has a lion safari and a toy-train that goes around the zoo.
