Naini Lake
The lake is shaped like an eye or crescent and is
surrounded by hills on all side. The lake is said to be one of the emerald green
eyes (Naina) of Siva's wife which fell at this site and hence the name Naini
Tal,
at the end of Naini
Lake there is Naina
Devi
Temple. There is festival here during August/September in honour of
Nanda Devi
, who is patron goddess of Kumaon.
Bhowali
En route to Ranikhet or Almora, it is a major fruit mart and health
resort only 3 km from here is Ghorakahl, famous for a temple to Gollu Devta, a
demi-god highly revered by the Kumaonis. Bhowali is also known for its T.B.
sanatorium established in 1912.
Khurpa Tal
A real paradise for anglers, the lake is supposedly
inhabited by numerous fish. It is 5 km from Nanital.
Naina
Peak
Situated at an altitude of 2,611 m, is this highest
point within Nainital and offers a panoramic, soul-captivating view
of the
Himalayas
. A charming view of the town and the lake, is also obtainable from the peak.commands
superb views of
Nanda Devi
mountains and the mountains on the Tibetan order. It is 6 km away

This is a health resort and a bee-keeping centre. Strawberries grow
here in plenty. Also an attraction for butterfly catchers.
Naukuchia Tal( 26 Km )
This is nine-cornered lake which receives migratory birds, It is within an enchanting valley
offering an opportunity of angling and bird watching.There is ample scope for
rowing ,paddling or yachting.
Ramgarh ( 25 Km )
This is known as the home of Kumaon orchards. Prosperous estates can be seen
here.
Sat Tal ( 21 Km )
Sattal is a unique,
unforgettable spot having cluster of lakes placed amidst the
oak forest
. On moving ahead there is the ashram of Stanley Johns an American Missionary.As
we move down there is a cluster of three lakes , these lakes are Ram,Laxman and
Sita lake
